(4-Minute Read With a Lifetime Impact)
Studying different groups of people teaches a lot of extremely powerful skills if you focus, compare, contrast and allow the knowledge to become lessons you actually practice. Growing up in Dallas, Texas working in a full-service gas station starting in elementary school gave me the perfect stage for studying people. Life lessons were abundant while surrounded by the elite (the 3-Percenters), upper class, middle class, lower class, and the seedy underbelly of the big city. In high school, my first business was launched and advanced studies of people began. Determination allowed me to pay my way through college while trying out other business ventures and holding down part-time jobs at the same time. This provided several stages to interact with people. The entire time I studied people carefully, especially the 3-percenters. These experiences created my foundation for success and established a concise view of the 3 things highly successful people do that gains momentum in their success and attracts even more success.
Today I am positioned definitively where I have planned myself to be. I am a serial entrepreneur, CEO, Board adviser, book author, guest lecturer for colleges, paid speaker and most importantly a proud husband and father. In conjunction with my prayer time each morning let me share these 3 things that helped me get where I am. These 3 things are learned from the 3-percenters who make winning look easy. Follow this guidance wholeheartedly and add a morning spiritual routine to your day and your life will dramatically change. Guaranteed.
Have Definite Purpose
Purpose matters! However, you dilly-dally and basically spend your days doing things that waste your life. Think you don’t because you’re super busy at a job, working on home projects, or taking care of kids. Well, this is important stuff, but what does it have to do with your dreams and aspirations? This is where excuses have to die so stop-stop-stop letting yourself off the hook with, “good reasons why not.” Making time to dedicate to a definite purpose that drives your visions to life is the single most important thing you can do. Think of the definite purpose as your drive to succeed and obsess on it. Chill out on your social media, social time and games. Control your vices! Make a list on paper of the actions necessary, although I prefer an electronic list these days because you can still get the thrill of checking off an accomplished item on an electronic list. Dedicate windows of time to your higher goals and vision. Use your calendar on your phone and plot out each day’s time carefully. Work many hours. Wake up early each day with a plan and determination to get something accomplished that directly relates to the steps to make your vision happen. Everything you do needs to be with a definite purpose.
Power Positive Thinking
You are what you think! Yet your thinking strays often and dives into despair frequently. Constantly we hear how positive thinking is “key,” and “so powerful,” as well as “what you have to do.” Many people tell me they “think positive,” and are good at staying positive. I call BS! Combine your definite purpose with extreme positive power thinking. Controlling your mind and alleviating doubt and all negative thoughts will propel your success. The problem is that negativity creeps in and cycles in the human brain easily because getting distracted by countless events and occurrences throughout one’s day is a pattern we learn at a very young age. Breaking this vicious cycle and training your mind to power think can be likened to a superhero power. I would say about 3-percent of the human population possess the ability to power think. Stay away from negative energy, negative people, gossip, overindulgence in vices, and the tendency to daydream. Distractions are your enemy, however, most are easy to control, and just require practice through concentration. Emotions and expectations are two of the greatest distraction villains. You can control emotions through your power thinking. Expectations are also controllable by you; therefore, avoid the pity-parties when things don’t turn out as you want. Powerful positive thinking is up to you. Unfortunately, most people, 97%, run their life as if their thoughts are out of their control. Focus on power thinking and wield this energy onto your definite purpose.
Professional-Polite-Persistence (The 3-Ps, as I describe in my book)
Naturally, we fail more often then we succeed! So why does rejection too often result in failure for you? We only fail when we give up. All else are merely opportunities and learning experiences on the road to success. The ability to face rejection and face it over and over until you succeed is something people rarely do. I mean sometimes they do and when you ask most people if they are persistent they will say, “oh yeah, I am so persistent that I just keep on something until I get it.” Really! I call BS on this too. The global research I conducted for a decade proved that the vast majority of people usually give up after just two rejections. Consider how most people take the first job offer they get because they are scared to keep facing rejection and look for something better. The best secret to overcome rejection I ran across was the same in 22 countries and I am confident it’s the same in every country. Professional-Polite-Persistence is your third greatest weapon in the journey to transmogrify your life into a magnetic success machine. Instead of acting immature and amateur when you fail, just be professional. Instead of showing disdain to haters and rejecters, just be polite. Instead of giving up when you fall short of what you seek, just be persistent smile until you get what you desire. Use the 3-Ps to stare adversity in the face with a smile and simply ask again/try again. Repeat this as many times as it takes.
Give these 3 things all you got! It will take time to master these skills like 3-percenters. Keep a daily record of your progress. 100-Days of practice is your first mission. Then track a second 100-days and analyze the progress. It’s okay if you have setbacks or even if your second 100-days is less successful. This is hard stuff and you can do it. Remember the point, combine definite purpose, power positive thinking, and professional-polite-persistence. There is no giving up. Do this 100-day exercise ten times. Track all the results and study it. In under 3-years you will have guaranteed results of becoming uber-successful. Then… keep going! Anything you set your mind to is possible if you add prayer to the equation.
